# Beautiful Pearls

Jenny was a bright-eyed, pretty five-year-old girl. One day when she and her mother were checking out at the grocery store, Jenny saw a plastic pearl necklace priced at $2.50. How she wanted that necklace, and when she asked her mother if she would buy it for her, her mother said, "Well, it is a pretty necklace, but it costs an awful lot of money. I'll tell you what. I'll buy you the necklace, and when we get home we can make up a list of chores that you can do to pay for the necklace.

And don't forget that for your birthday Grandma just might give you a whole dollar bill, too. Okay?" Jenny agreed, and her mother bought the pearl necklace for her.

Jenny worked on her chores very hard every day, and sure enough, her grandma gave her a brand new dollar bill for her birthday. Soon Jenny had paid off the pearls. How Jenny loved those pearls. She wore them everywhere to kindergarten, bed and when she went out with her mother to run errands.

The only time she didn't wear them was in the shower. Her mother had told her that they would turn her neck green!

Now Jenny had a very loving daddy. When Jenny went to bed, he would get up from his favorite chair every night and read Jenny her favorite story.

One night when he finished the story, he said, "Jenny, do you love me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you," the little girl said.

"Well, then, give me your pearls."

"Oh! Daddy, not my pearls!" Jenny said. "But you can have Rosy, my favorite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. And you can have her tea party outfit, too. Okay?"

"Oh no, darling, that's okay." Her father brushed her cheek with a kiss. "Good night, little one."

A week later, her father once again asked Jenny after her story, "Do you love me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you."

"Well, then, give me your pearls."

"Oh, Daddy, not my pearls! But you can have Ribbons, my toy horse. Do you remember her? She's my favorite. Her hair is so soft, and you can play with it and braid it and everything. You can have Ribbons if you want her, "Daddy," the little girl said to her father.

"No, that's okay," her father said and brushed her cheek again with a kiss. God bless you, little one. Sweet dreams."

Several days later, when Jenny's father came in to read her a story, Jenny was sitting on her bed and her lip was trembling. " Here, Daddy," she said, and held out her hand. She opened it and her beloved pearl necklace was inside. She let it slip into her father's hand.

With one hand her father held the plastic pearls and the other he pulled out of his pocket a blue velvet box. Inside of the box were real, genuine, beautiful pearls. He had had them all along. He was waiting for Jenny to give up the cheap stuff so he could give her the real thing...

# Facts of Helpless

Short Story:

"An experiment was carried out on a number of dogs by subjecting them to electric shocks while providing them with a switch that they can use to stop the electric current from flowing into their bodies. For a few of the test animals, the switch were disabled so as not to turn off even when pushed. After the experiment, some of the dogs who weren’t able to stop the electric current developed symptoms that are similar to clinical depression; or to put it in another way: these dogs learned how to be helpless."

After read the short story above, here are a few question to ask. Have we ever tried to notice how a small child tries over and over to do the same thing without getting bored? Have we ever met a person who can’t walk now because, as a kid, he gave up on trying to stand up and walk after a few unsuccessful tries? Of course not! Why don’t these kids stop trying and why do adults stop? Because through their life's experience, some adults tend to develop a new ability: the ability to feel helpless!! And it is so sorry to said that the ability to feel helpless is a strong ability to be failed.

“The more you quit, the more you will record new failures in your history and the more likely you will learn how to become helpless. Then you are truly had failed in your life.”

I have to notice myself. This is my life. I don’t want to let it fool me. And I don’t learn how to become helpless because failed once or twice. Whatever the situation I am facing, I’ll tried to force my way out without feeling helpless, and whenever I feel like giving up and conceding defeat, I just remind myself with the short story about the experiment. Helplessness is learned and that it’s not something that I was born with. I will remember that helplessness was learned by practicing it. So I can unlearn it by not practicing it.

And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin......i love you.

I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
Theyll learn much more.....than Ill never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world

# A Man Called Father

~ Life began with waking up and loving my mother's face ~
(George Eliot, English novelist )

Above is a lovely quote about mother's love. We heard a lot of relevant quotes. How about father's quotes? Do you often heard it? Did father have love? That is a ridiculous question to ask. I received an email from my friend this morning. She send a nice story about the position of father. Hope with this story we could appreciated a man called father.

A Man Called Father

A father is a person who is forced to endure childbirth without an anaesthetic. He growls when he feels good and laughs very loud when he is scared half-to-death.

A father never feels entirely worthy of the worship in a child's eyes. He is never quite the hero his daughter thinks . . . Never quite the man his son believes him to be. And this worries him sometimes. (So he works too hard to try to smooth the rough places in the road of those of his own who will follow him.)

A father is a person who goes to war sometimes . . . and would run the other way except that war is part of his only important job in his life, (which is making the world better for his child than it has been for him.)

Fathers grow older faster than people, because they, in other wars, have to stand at the train station and wave goodbye to the uniform that climbs onboard.
And, while mothers cry where it shows, fathers stand and beam . . .outside . . . and die inside.

Fathers are men who give daughters away to other men, who aren't nearly good enough, so that they can have children that are smarter than anybody's.

Fathers fight dragons almost daily. They hurry away from the breakfast table, off to the arena which is sometimes called an office or a workshop. There, with callused hands, they tackle the dragon with three heads; Weariness, Works, and Monotony. And they never quite win the fight, but they never give up.

Knights in shining armour; fathers in shiny trousers: There's little difference as they march away each workday.

I don't know where father goes when he dies, but I've an idea that, after a good rest, wherever it is, he won't just sit on a cloud and wait for the girl he's loved and the children she bore. He'll be busy there too . . . repairing the stars, oiling the gates, improving the streets, smoothing the way.

# Today is the Very First Day

Today is the Very First Day of the Rest of My Life

This is the beginning of a new day
I can waste it .. Or use it for good

But what I do today is important,
Because I'm exchanging a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes, This day will be gone forever,
Leaving in it's place something that I have traded for it

I want it to be gain and not loss, good and not evil,
Success and not failure, in order that I not regret
the price I have paid for it.

I will give a hundred percent of myself just for today,
For you never fail

Until you stop trying.

I will be the kind of person I have always wanted to be ...
I have been given this day to use as I will.

# Positive Attitude is Everything

In my last post we talk about positive attitude and I want to share about it again. Hope this don`t bored you. But this one a little bit different. I search and found this things and I think I should put it in my blog before I forgot it. This one is a slide with .ppt form and I got it from this site. Most of them available to download, but some of them not. This post title was taken from slide title "Positive Attitude is Everything. I don`t want to wasting time with my review anymore. Hope with this one would more fulfill our life. Please enjoy this cool and useful slide.

# Choosing a Positive Attitude

Choosing a positive attitude is a process. By choosing a positive attitude, we are actually attracting more positive experiences, and reducing the likelihood of negative experiences. Do you consciously choose your attitude each day? If you're like most people, probably not. Most of us tend to let our circumstances choose our attitude for us. If everything under control we`re in the good mood. But that's not always be, is it? Situations don't always adhere to our expectations. What happens to our attitude then? Thats a challenge when you choosing a positive attitude.

How would our lives change if we consciously chose a positive attitude each day? For starters, we'd feel much happier about our lives. We'd feel more motivated about pursuing our dreams because we'd believe in the possibilities for making them a reality. We'd be able to enjoy the time spent with our friends and families more, because we'd want to share our joy with others. We'd feel strong and empowered in our ability to do anything we set our minds to. We'd be able to overcome challenges with ease because we'd have a strong belief in our own skills and abilities. We'd be able to love deeply and completely without fear of rejection or betrayal. We would pause to enjoy the smaller, more precious moments in life, without feeling pressured to do more, be more, or prove our worthiness.

It all begins with a little thing called attitude! Again, this is a process, so go easy on yourself if you're trying to adopt a more positive attitude. Simply focus on developing a stronger awareness of your attitude moment to moment in your daily experiences, and begin choosing a more positive one more often. It takes time to realize the full benefits of this type of mindset, but it is time well-spent.

# Great Summary

I have a discussions with my group last night and we discussed a lot of interesting topics. Now let me share to you the most interesting part from our discussions.

Start with a write. One of us share a piece of paper, but it just consists of about ten or eleven sentences. All of us just need about 20 seconds to finished it. Anywhere, all of us agreed this part is the best one.

Let see what inside the paper.

Abraham Lincoln

1) Failed in business at age 21
2) Was defeated in a legislative race at age 22
3) Failed again in business at age 24
4) Overcame the death of his sweetheart at age 26
5) Had a nervous breakdown at age 27
6) Lost a congressional race at age 34
7) Lost a congressional race at age 36
8) Lost a senatorial race at age 45
9) Failed in an effort to become vice-president at age 47
10) Lost a senatorial race at age 49
11) Was elected President of the United States at age 52

After read this, all of us at once give the one who share this write a big continue applause. He could concise a great man like Abraham Lincoln life just in ten sentences. But the summary is very powerful. We learned a great things from it last night.

See how Abraham fulfilled his life. The life of Abraham Lincoln shows us what is possible, even in the continual face of adversity. Lincoln teaches us that there is no such thing as failure, and how we can excel by meeting challenges head on. He who threated and said that failure is everything should learn from this write. Hope this write would be a value for all of us. Best wishes.
